Ben Scott - About The Author

Ben Scott is a father and technology leader based in Vancouver, British Columbia. His background is in building software and solving complex technical problems, and he approaches big questions the same way he approaches engineering work: by breaking them down, testing assumptions, and looking for practical, workable answers.

His interests have long stretched beyond technology into science, history, philosophy, and the systems that shape human civilization. Those interests took on new urgency in 2021, when an unprecedented heatwave in Western North America claimed more than 1,400 lives and shattered temperature records across British Columbia. Experiencing that event firsthand transformed global challenges from distant concerns into an immediate reality.

Ben is not a specialist confined to a single discipline. Instead, he writes from a systems perspective, exploring how technology, economics, politics, and culture intersect — and how those systems might be better aligned to build a more resilient and stable future. His current major project is a book focused on practical, economically grounded approaches to climate and infrastructure challenges, while this site serves as a space for broader long-form exploration and idea development.

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.
